Le poème évoque l’insurrection menée par la Kabylie contre la dictature de Ben Bella en 1963, sous la responsabilité politique du FFS (Front des forces socialistes) et de Hocine Ait-Ahmed. Elle s’est achevée par le ralliement au régime de certains chefs militaires et par la mort de plusieurs centaines de Kabyles, sans parler des actes de barbarie commis par l’armée selon certains témoins, ainsi le viol. Sur ce dernier point, on pourra lire le témoignage direct d’Amar Ouardane dans son livre «  La Question berbère dans le mouvement nationale algérien, 1926-1980, Épigraphe/Dar el Ijtihad, Alger, 1993, p. 99.
